Your Ideas. Your story. Collaboration makes it soar.

You’ve written your book. Now it’s ready to shine. I offer different levels of service so your book gets the attention it needs. I specialize in proofreading, copy editing, and developmentally editing the following genres: Romance, Mystery, Thriller, and Memoir, as well as Non-fiction, including books, websites, and blogs.

Proofreading: I’m a careful, detailed proofreader. I proofread for typos, punctuation, grammar errors, and also inconsistencies in font or style. In addition to normal proofreading-level corrections, I will comment if I see a copy edit-level suggestion and also let you know when anything is confusing for me as a new reader of your book. My clients appreciate my “going above and beyond” approach to proofreading. This service is for books that on average need two corrections per page.

Copy editing: I'm an experienced copy editor who will champion your unique voice and writing style, while editing for voice consistency, clarity, and correct grammar. As an avid reader myself, I value the range of literary styles and the individuality of each author. My clients frequently give feedback that my suggested edits elevate their writing, and don't strip it of what makes it special. As needed, I’ll offer suggestions on overall appeal and let you know when anything is confusing for me as a new reader of your book. You’ll be able to see my suggested edits along with your original text and accept or reject each edit individually.

In-depth editing: If your book requires extensive edits, sentence rewriting, or significant style changes, I’ll give you an individualized quote based on the amount of editing needed. This level of service is highly customizable and may be the only edit pass needed, or may be followed by a copy edit.

Developmental editing: Does your book need a deeper level edit? I specialize in developmental editing for novels and memoirs. I begin by giving a detailed review and input on your manuscript, and discuss the edit plan with you. My full developmental edit will include feedback and suggested edits for main characters, supporting cast, POV and dialogue, primary and secondary narratives, pacing, setting, world-building, and overall consistency. My developmental editing provides margin notes, edit summaries, collaborative manuscript work, and consultations as requested.

I wanted to get high-quality editing for my manuscript, so I sent out an editing test to several editors. Dana achieved a very high score and after that, I decided to work with her. I can honestly say that I am very pleased with the results. She is meticulous, observant, and goes the extra mile to ensure the text looks great. I totally recommend her!
